Jubilant Pharmova Q1 FY27: PAT Slumps 45% YoY to ₹56 Cr as SPECT Loss Hits Margins

Consolidated revenue rose 17.3% YoY to ₹2,229.4 Cr, in line with (slightly ahead of) the ₹2,100-2,200 Cr range flagged in our pre-result preview and matching management's own "solid growth of 17% on YoY basis" framing. But consolidated PAT fell 45.0% YoY and 52.7% QoQ to ₹56.4 Cr, well short of the ₹70-90 Cr PAT range the preview had set as the bar. Since neither this quarter nor the year-ago quarter carried exceptional items (Q4 FY26, by contrast, had a ₹13.7 Cr exceptional item), the decline is a clean operational one, not a one-off swing. EPS came in at ₹3.57 versus ₹6.49 a year ago and ₹7.55 last quarter.
Q1 FY-2027 vs prior quarters
EBITDA, per management, was ₹268 Cr for the quarter — an implied margin of ~12.0%, down from ~15.2% a year ago and ~14.2% last quarter, missing the preview's 15-16% expectation. Management attributes this to the unavailability of high-margin SPECT radiopharmaceutical products, which shows up directly in the segment data: Radiopharma segment profit fell to ₹78.0 Cr from ₹98.6 Cr YoY even though segment revenue grew to ₹1,022.1 Cr from ₹868.6 Cr. The sharper margin hit sits in CDMO Sterile Injectables, exactly the segment management called out as a growth driver: revenue there jumped 32.4% YoY to ₹519.8 Cr on technology-transfer income from the new/third line, but segment profit collapsed to ₹7.3 Cr from ₹43.1 Cr — the new capacity is adding revenue but diluting margins, the Montreal-related capacity question the Street was watching into this print.
The stock went into the print at ₹962.7, down 0.2% over the past month of trading.
Jubilant Pharmova gives no formal quarterly guidance on record, so this print is judged against Street's implicit bar rather than a company target — on that basis it is a revenue beat but a clear profit and margin miss. The tax-rectification tailwind flagged as a pre-result watch item did not materialise this quarter: the effective tax rate held near 34.7% (₹30.0 Cr tax on ₹86.4 Cr PBT), close to last year's 33.6%. On the corporate calendar, the board meeting was pushed from Aug 5 to Aug 10 to finalise these results, and the company has an AGM scheduled for Aug 26 alongside the FY26 dividend payout — neither bears on this quarter's operating numbers. Standalone, a much smaller slice of the group, posted PAT of ₹7.3 Cr on revenue of ₹67.1 Cr, EPS ₹0.46.

Figures in ₹ million in source, converted to ₹ Crore (÷10). No exceptional items in Q1 FY27 or Q1 FY26 (Q4 FY26 carried ₹13.7 Cr exceptional item), so YoY PAT comparison is clean/unadjusted. Consolidated PAT of ₹56.4 Cr is total profit for the period; owners-attributable PAT is ₹56.5 Cr (NCI loss of ₹0.1 Cr) and matches the reported basic EPS of ₹3.57.
CDMO Momentum vs. Quality Headwinds — What to Expect on Aug 10
Jubilant Pharmova reports Q1 FY27 on Aug 10 with Street expecting continued revenue growth driven by sterile injectables, but with quality control uncertainties and margin recovery still pending.
The Setup: CDMO Thrust vs. Quality Scrutiny
Jubilant Pharmova enters Q1 FY27 as a play on CDMO Sterile Injectables momentum — the division that lifted FY26 revenue 14% to ₹8,280 Cr and EBITDA 8% to ₹1,326 Cr. Street consensus expects growth to continue in the mid-to-high single digits through FY27. But the narrative has darkened: in May 2026, the USFDA issued a warning letter to subsidiary Jubilant HollisterStier's Montreal facility, citing quality control deficiencies in aseptic processing and microbiological contamination control. The facility is on OAI (Official Action Indicated) status, and remediation is underway. On Q1 print day, two things matter: (1) what's the revenue tick, and is CDMO Sterile Injectables still on pace? and (2) any commentary on Montreal impact and timeline to remediation?
~₹2,100–2,200 Cr
On-plan growth from Q1 FY26 base (~₹1,900–2,000 Cr estimated); 10–12% YoY pace expected
~15–16%
Below FY26 average of ~16%; pressured by input costs and facility remediation spend
₹70–90 Cr

On Track? The FY27 Outlook
Jubilant Pharmova is guiding for FY27 revenue of ~₹95.3b (raised from ₹92.6b) and 33.3% earnings growth, with EBITDA margins expected to recover in H2 FY27 after near-term pressure. FY26 was a reset: 14% revenue growth, 8% EBITDA growth, 7% PAT growth despite macro headwinds and input cost inflation. Q1 is the first quarter of this guidance cycle. If revenue paces toward ~₹2,100–2,200 Cr and CDMO Sterile Injectables remains the growth engine, the full-year target is plausible. If Montreal remediation spills into meaningful capacity loss or customer deferrals, that guidance could come under review. The company signalled margin recovery in H2, so Q1–Q2 may show compression; watch management's confidence level on the recovery path.
Since Last Quarter: Filings & Corp Actions
1 · USFDA Warning Letter (Montreal, May 2026)
Jubilant HollisterStier General Partnership received warning letter citing quality control deficiencies — aseptic processing failures, microbiological contamination risk, and inadequate batch investigation. Facility classified OAI; remediation plan in place. On Q1 call, listen for remediation timeline and any customer deferrals.
2 · Tax Rectifications — Significant Tailwind
Income Tax Dept deleted ₹22.10 Cr tax demand for AY2020-21 (July 2026). Subsidiary Jubilant Biosys also received rectification order reducing tax exposure by ~₹53.37 Cr. These one-time benefits may support PAT in near term; unclear if Q1 or later quarters capture them.
3 · Board Meeting Rescheduled (Aug 5)
Originally Aug 7, now Aug 10 — deferred due to unavoidable circumstances. Q1 FY27 results will be approved on Aug 10; trading window closed July 1–48h post-announcement.
4 · AGM on Aug 26 & FY26 Dividend
₹5 per share final dividend approved for FY26, subject to shareholder approval at 48th AGM on Aug 26. TDS deduction on dividend already notified. BRSR (ESG) report filed for FY26.
5 · USFDA Approvals — Minor Positives
Tentative approval for Pantoprazole Sodium Delayed Release (June 2026) signals ongoing approval momentum. Spokane facility inspection (June 2026) yielded 8 observations — routine remediation path.
6 · Ownership & Pledges
FII stake slipped 1.5pp YoY (17.4% → 15.87%); DII stable at 12.4%; promoter unchanged 47.68%. June 2026: promoter entities pledged shares for loans — monitor for any further pledge activity on balance sheet stress.
What a Strong vs. Weak Print Looks Like
Strong Q1: Revenue ₹2,150+ Cr (12%+ YoY), EBITDA margin 16%+, and management commentary that Montreal remediation is on track with no material customer deferrals expected. Clear articulation of H2 margin recovery path. CDMO Sterile Injectables growth acceleration or at least flat-to-up momentum despite one facility setback.
Weak Q1: Revenue below ₹2,050 Cr, EBITDA margin below 14%, or management caveats on Montreal impact (customer push-outs, production halts). Any cut to FY27 guidance or delay in H2 margin recovery would signal execution risk. Deterioration in CDMO Sterile Injectables growth would raise structural concerns.
On Result Day: Three Things to Watch
1 · CDMO Sterile Injectables Revenue & Growth
Is this division still the growth engine? Look for organic growth rate (ex-M&A). Any slowdown here would suggest Montreal OAI is already impacting customer activity or approvals.
2 · Montreal Remediation & Capacity Impact
Management guidance on timeline, customer communications, and expected lost revenue. If vague or concerning, expect stock weakness. If confident, relief rally likely.
3 · H2 FY27 Margin Recovery Path
Specific guidance on when EBITDA margins revert to 16%+ level. If deferred beyond H2, it signals prolonged headwinds.
Jubilant Pharmova's Aug 10 print arrives at an inflection: CDMO Sterile Injectables growth is the bull case, but Montreal's USFDA warning letter creates near-term uncertainty. Q1 revenue is expected to continue the FY26 growth trajectory (10–12% YoY) and margins to compress modestly before H2 recovery. Street consensus leans buy on a 17.5–23.5% upside to ₹1,139–₹1,190, but the stock's 21% drawdown from ATH suggests risk is priced in; clarity on remediation timeline is critical. Watch CDMO organic growth, Montreal capacity loss estimates, and H2 margin recovery guidance — those three factors will frame the post-result re-rating.
