This petition challenged a previous order by the High Court of Judicature at Bombay, which had set aside an order by the CGST & C.Ex. Authority. The original dispute involved a Show Cause Notice for alleged contravention of Rule 96(10) of CGST Rule, proposing a demand of IGST of ₹230.70 Crores, along with interest and penalty. The CGST & C.Ex. Authority had previously ordered a demand of ₹20.72 Crores for erroneous IGST refund and imposed a penalty of ₹20.72 Crores. The Supreme Court's dismissal means the matter is now disposed of in favor of Aarti Drugs. The company stated there is no financial, operational, or other impact as the order is in their favor.
