
Amara Raja Launches ₹500 Cr Li-Ion Cell Qualification Plant in Telangana
Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Ltd, has commissioned its Customer Qualification Plant (CQP) in Telangana with an investment of ₹500 crore. This facility, part of the company's ₹9,500 crore Gigafactory program, will manufacture lithium-ion cells in cylindrical and prismatic formats for OEM customer qualification. With an initial capacity of 60 MWh, it aims to bridge the gap between R&D and commercial production, accelerating new cell technology industrialization. Commercial-scale production is targeted to begin within the next year, with 2 GWh manufacturing on track for CY2027. The CQP is expected to supply cells for customer validation starting August 2026.
