BDL appoints Dr. Jagannath Nayak as Govt nominee director

Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) announced the appointment of Dr. Jagannath Nayak DS&DG (MSS), DRDO, as a Part-Time Official Director (Government Director) on its Board. The Ministry of Defence, Department of Defence Production, approved this appointment via an Office Memorandum dated October 6, 2026. His appointment will be effective from the date of allotment of his Director Identification Number (DIN). Dr. Nayak brings over 35 years of experience in defence research and development, recognized for his work in indigenous design and development of advanced avionics. He led the development of India’s first Directed Energy Weapon (DEW) system and is credited as the chief architect of Fibre Optic Gyro guidance for Akash missiles and DEW-based Anti-Drone systems, significantly contributing to India's self-reliance in critical defence technologies.
