Bharti Airtel Fined ₹1.69 Lakh by DoT for Verification Norms Violation

Bharti Airtel Limited has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Madhya Pradesh LSA, imposing a penalty of ₹1,69,000. The penalty is for alleged violation of subscriber verification norms, identified during a Customer Application Form (CAF) Audit for April 2026. The DoT requires telecom operators to ensure adequate customer verification before enrollment. Bharti Airtel has decided to pay the penalty and not contest it, stating the maximum financial impact is limited to the levied amount. This action stems from non-compliance with license agreement terms regarding customer verification procedures.
