Supreme Court Recalls ₹4,655 Cr Lease Rent Observation Against BBTCL

The Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation Ltd (BBTCL) announced that the Hon'ble Supreme Court has allowed its Interlocutory Application, recalling and expunging paragraph 59 of its May 29, 2026 order. This paragraph had stated that lease rent of ₹4,655 crore remained to be recovered by the State Government from the Corporation. BBTCL had argued that the Civil Appeals did not pertain to lease rent and that no notice or demand had been served. The Supreme Court agreed that the amount was neither subject to notice nor finally determined after affording BBTCL a hearing. BBTCL will continue to monitor the situation and keep stakeholders informed.
