Coal India, HURL Sign Non-Binding MoU for Coal Gasification Urea Project

Coal India Limited (CIL) and Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 29, 2026. The agreement aims to explore the development of a coal gasification-based urea production facility at Sindri, Jharkhand. The initial phase will focus on assessing the technical, commercial, and implementation aspects of the project to prepare a Preliminary Feasibility Report (PFR) for evaluating its viability. This collaboration signifies a potential step towards diversifying energy and fertilizer production methods.
