Deccan Gold Mines' Jonnagiri Project Inaugurated by AP CM

Deccan Gold Mines Limited announced the formal inauguration of its Jonnagiri Gold Project in Andhra Pradesh by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu. This marks a significant milestone for India's gold mining sector, being the first significant private-sector gold mine since Independence. The project currently processes 1,000 tonnes of ore daily, producing 400-600 kg of gold annually, with plans to expand processing capacity to 2,500 tonnes per day, exceeding one tonne of annual gold production. The Chief Minister also announced the renaming of Jonnagiri village to "Swarnagiri" and laid the foundation stone for plant expansion, highlighting the project's potential for economic growth and employment generation in the Kurnool district. This development is seen as a catalyst for further investment in India's mining and exploration sector, reinforcing the nation's focus on domestic resource development and supply-chain security.
