
Hindustan Zinc Releases Climate Action Report FY26
Hindustan Zinc Limited has released its Climate Action Report for FY2025-26, detailing its progress and strategy in addressing climate change. The company maintained its Global No. 1 Ranking in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment for the third consecutive year. HZL reported combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions of 5.02 million tCO2e and Scope 3 emissions of 1.47 million tCO2e in FY2025-26. The company consumed 892 MU of renewable power, contributing to an estimated 0.83 million tCO2e reduction, with its Pantnagar Metal Plant operating on 100% renewable power. HZL remains committed to its Science-based Targets initiative-aligned pathway to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% and Scope 3 by 25% by 2030 (FY2020 baseline), and achieve Net Zero by 2050. Initiatives include improving power procurement efficiency and adding 990 MW of battery energy storage. The company also highlighted its low-carbon zinc product, EcoZen, and its water positivity and circularity efforts.
