
Izmo Microsystems & IIT Madras Enter Phase II of ₹99.94 Cr Photonics Program
Izmo Microsystems Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Izmo Limited, has entered Phase II of the Centre for Programmable Photonic Integrated Circuits and Systems (CPPICS) program with IIT Madras. This five-year program, titled Silicon Photonics Enabled Cutting-edge Technology Research and Applications (SPECTRA), is sanctioned by MeitY with a total outlay of ₹99.94 crore. MeitY contributes ₹97.54 crore, while Izmo Microsystems commits ₹2.40 crore in cash and in-kind. The program aims to advance silicon photonics from research to commercially deployable products, focusing on areas like 1.6 Tbps optical transceivers, co-packaged optics, quantum communications, and photonic AI. Izmo Microsystems will drive packaging and industrialization efforts, targeting a certified co-packaged optics design rule and service capability.
