
Cabinet Approves Rs. 8146.21 Crore Investment for 700 MW Tato-II Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved an investment of Rs. 8146.21 crore for the construction of the 700 MW Tato-II Hydro Electric Project (HEP) in Shi Yomi District of Arunachal Pradesh. The project, to be implemented by North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd. (NEEPCO) and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, has an estimated completion period of 72 months. The project will produce 2738.06 MU of energy and will help improve the power supply position in Arunachal Pradesh and balance the national Grid. The government of India will provide Rs. 458.79 crore for associated transmission line infrastructure and Rs. 436.13 crore towards the state's equity share. The state will benefit from 12% free power, 1% towards the Local Area Development Fund (LADF), and significant infrastructure and socio-economic development. The project aligns with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, providing benefits to local suppliers, enterprises, MSMEs, and employment opportunities. The district will also benefit from improved infrastructure and essential services.
