Orissa Minerals Gets EC Recommendation for Belkundi Mine

The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has recommended the grant of Environment Clearance (EC) for the Belkundi Iron & Manganese Ore Mine. The mine, operated by Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd, covers an area of 1276.79 hectares. The EC allows for mining with a restriction on 965.423 hectares, with a proposed production capacity of 1.8 MTPA for Iron Ore and 0.3 MTPA for Manganese Ore. This recommendation follows the EAC's 9th meeting held on July 17, 2026, and is based on the provisions of the EIA Notification, 2006.
