Pondy Oxides to Set Up Copper Recycling Plant in Tamil Nadu

Pondy Oxides & Chemicals Ltd's board approved setting up a new copper recycling plant at Thervoykandigai, Tamil Nadu. The plant will have a capacity of 36,000 MTPA of LME Grade A Copper Cathode, implemented in two phases of 18,000 MTPA each, using integrated pyro-refining and electro-refining technology. The project cost is approximately ₹200 Crores, funded through internal accruals, targeting domestic and export markets. Commissioning is expected on or before December 2026. The plant aims to expand and diversify into non-ferrous recycling, strengthen vertical integration, and reduce import dependency.
