Shyam Metalics Acquires 26% Stake in Emerge Green Power

Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd (SMEL) has acquired a 26% equity stake in Emerge Green Power Private Limited (EGPPL) for ₹75,01,260. This acquisition makes EGPPL an associate company of SMEL and is effective from June 18, 2026. The strategic investment allows SMEL to qualify as a captive user for solar power generation, aiming to reduce energy costs and utilize renewable energy for its manufacturing operations. EGPPL was incorporated on February 17, 2025, and its primary business is setting up and operating captive power plants. This move aligns with SMEL's long-term strategy for sustainable energy procurement, potentially improving EBITDA margins and supporting ESG goals, despite EGPPL operating outside SMEL's core steel business.
