Timken India Ordered to Pay Back Wages and Regular Wages

Timken India Ltd has received an order from the High Court of Gujarat at Ahmedabad concerning a dispute related to the termination of an employee, Mr. Anil Ambalal Modi, from Antifriction Bearings Corporation Limited (amalgamated with Timken India) in 1995. The Labour Court had previously ruled the termination illegal, awarding 65% back wages and reinstatement. The High Court has upheld this order and further directed the company to pay regular wages from 2005 until the employee's superannuation. The company is assessing the financial impact and may file an appeal.
