Escorts Kubota's consolidated Q1 FY27 (quarter ended June 30, 2026) revenue from operations rose 28.3% YoY to ₹3,207.55 Cr (from ₹2,500.05 Cr) and 8.1% QoQ, a genuinely strong topline. Reported net profit of ₹385.93 Cr looks like a 72% YoY collapse, but that is purely optical: the year-ago ₹1,397.10 Cr base carried a ₹1,027.63 Cr one-time gain from the sale of the railway-equipment (RED) business to Sona Comstar, booked under discontinued operations, plus a ₹75.99 Cr exceptional land-sale gain in continuing ops. On a like-for-like continuing-operations basis, PAT is +4.5% reported and roughly +24% once the prior-year ₹75.99 Cr exceptional gain is stripped out; profit before exceptional items and tax grew 18.9% YoY to ₹492.14 Cr. Standalone mirrors this at ₹387.34 Cr PAT on ₹3,178.90 Cr revenue.
Q1 FY-2027 vs prior quarters
The growth is volume-led: Q1 tractor dispatches were up 20.5% (36,862 units) and construction-equipment sales jumped ~49% — visible in both segments, with agri-machinery revenue +27% and construction-equipment +39% YoY. Against that, operating margin compressed — segment-result margin fell to ~10.0% from ~11.7% a year ago and ~11.4% last quarter — as rising input costs bit into the mix, exactly the near-term pressure management flagged on the Q4 concall when it warned recent price hikes were insufficient to fully offset commodity inflation. So the quarter confirms both halves of prior guidance: the confidence in positive volume growth and market-share gains against a flattish industry, and the caution on margins.
The stock went into the print at ₹3,098.5, up 4.3% over the past month of trading.
For context: this is the second-highest quarterly PAT of the last 6 quarters.
Management projects a flattish (+/- 2-3%) tractor industry for FY27, with substantial de-growth expected in H2 due to a high base, potential El Nino impact, and commodity inflation. Despite this, the company is confident in achieving positive volume growth and market share gains driven by a strong pipeline of new produ
— This quarter: met
No formal quarterly Street consensus figure surfaced in previews (coverage focused on monthly volumes rather than a Q1 PAT poll), and the company does not give a hard quarterly earnings guide — so the print is best judged against management's own Q4 framing, which it met on volumes and margin direction. Alongside results, the Board approved a captive-power solar SPV (26% stake, capped at ₹3.80 Cr, JV with AMPIN holding 74%), noted the resignation of CS Arvind Kumar with Vicky Chauhan appointed from Aug 18, and moved to appoint S.R. Batliboi & Co. as incoming statutory auditor from FY27. The read into next quarter is a demanding volume base against management's own H2 de-growth caution, and whether price actions finally catch up to input costs.
W1
Margin recovery: segment margin slipped to ~10.0% from ~11.7% YoY; watch whether price hikes catch up to input costs in H2, which management called insufficient so far.
W2
Volume base risk: Q1 tractor volumes +20.5% set a demanding comparison against management's guided flattish FY27 industry with H2 de-growth risk on a high base/El Niño.
W3
Construction-equipment momentum: ~49% June growth and 1,344 Q1 units — watch if infra-led demand sustains into the seasonally stronger quarters.
