HFCL posted its best-ever quarter: consolidated revenue of ₹2,541.79 Cr grew 143.62% YoY and 32.73% QoQ, while PAT of ₹394.22 Cr grew 448.14% YoY and 60.49% QoQ, taking PAT margin to 15.51% (+862 bps YoY, +268 bps QoQ) and EBITDA margin to 25.89% (+640 bps YoY, +264 bps QoQ). There were no exceptional items in either period, so the growth is entirely organic — not a one-off distortion. The print comfortably beat the Street: our pre-result on-plan range had pencilled in revenue of ₹1,800–2,000 Cr, PAT of ₹180–220 Cr and an EBITDA margin of 18–20%; the company delivered well above the top end on every metric. It also beat management's own prior guidance — the July concall had already raised FY27 revenue-growth guidance to 40% from 20–25% and targeted 23%+ EBITDA margins; this quarter's margin of 25.89% cleared that bar, and management has now raised FY27 revenue-growth guidance again, to "at least 80%" over FY26.
Q2 FY-2027 vs prior quarters
The margin expansion is driven by operating leverage rather than cheaper inputs: cost of materials actually rose to 54.2% of consolidated revenue from 40.0% a year ago (reflecting segment mix), but employee cost fell to 5.1% of revenue from 9.0% and other expenses to 8.3% from 11.0%, more than offsetting the materials drag. The Telecom Products segment remains the engine, contributing ₹2,322 Cr of segment revenue and ₹716 Cr of segment profit; by contrast the Turnkey Contracts segment posted a standalone segment loss of ₹(122.64) Cr and Defence & Aerospace contributed just ₹54.94 Cr of revenue, still well short of the ₹500 Cr FY27 aspiration that management reiterated as "on track."
The stock went into the print at ₹226.27, up 11.6% over the past month of trading.
For context: this is the highest quarterly PAT in the last 6 quarters on our records; PAT has now risen for 5 consecutive quarters; revenue is at a 6-quarter high.
FY27 revenue growth raised to 40% from 20-25%; EBITDA margins to sustain at 23%+; defense revenue target ₹500 Cr; data center connectivity ₹800 Cr FY27. Capex: ₹640 Cr FY27, ₹615 Cr FY28.
— This quarter: beat
The quarter's corporate developments reinforce the capacity story: the ₹820 Cr optical fiber capacity expansion approved September 14 sits within a larger ₹1,800 Cr capex plan across fiber, cable and preform manufacturing disclosed alongside results — a step-up from the ₹640 Cr FY27 capex guided last quarter. Order book stands at ₹28,911 Cr (nearly 5x FY26 revenue), which management says gives six-to-seven years of revenue visibility; CMD Mahendra Nahata framed this as a "defining moment" and said the ongoing aerospace-business acquisition is expected to close this quarter. H1 FY27 PBT grew from ₹61.64 Cr to ₹870.12 Cr and PAT from ₹42.62 Cr to ₹639.86 Cr, confirming the quarter was not an isolated spike but a continuation of the inflection management flagged after Q1's record print.
