IREDA signs ₹2,941.19 Cr loan for Vikran's solar subsidiary; the parent's guarantee is still to be executed
The loan part-finances NOPL's 969 MWac Maharashtra solar project (estimated cost ₹4,201.70 Cr) and finalises funding for Vikran's ₹3,517.98 Cr EPC contract from the same subsidiary.

On Monday evening, after the market closed, Vikran Engineering disclosed that NOPL Solar Projects Private Limited — its wholly-owned subsidiary — has signed a facility agreement with Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) for a rupee term loan of up to ₹2,941.19 crore. The filing states that with this agreement, the financing arrangements for the 969 MWac solar project NOPL is developing — and for the ₹3,517.98 crore EPC contract NOPL awarded to Vikran itself — have been finalised. The numbers are large for a company this size: the facility alone is roughly twice Vikran's ₹1,435.5 crore market capitalisation.
A loan to the subsidiary, a guarantee from the parent — not yet signed
NOPL signs ₹2,941.19 Cr facility agreement with IREDA
NOPL Solar Projects, 100% owned by Vikran Engineering, entered a facility agreement (dated October 9, communicated to the company October 12) with IREDA for a rupee term loan of up to ₹2,941.19 Cr. It part-finances a 969 MWac / 1,163 MWp solar photovoltaic project under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 scheme, spread across 152 locations in Maharashtra, at an estimated project cost of ₹4,201.70 Cr. The filing reached the exchange at 19:15 IST, after close — the first session in which the market can trade on it is October 13, which is beyond the price data in this report.
Read:The filing says this finalises the financing for the project behind Vikran's own ₹3,517.98 Cr EPC contract from NOPL. It also states that as of the disclosure date no direct liability has been created on Vikran: the corporate guarantee the company proposes to give IREDA is to be executed separately, and Vikran's obligations arise only upon that execution. IREDA gets no right to nominate directors or participate in management.
BSE filing, Oct 12, 2026Board pre-approved the guarantee and a ₹200 Cr promoter infusion
At its September 30 meeting, the board approved issuing a corporate guarantee aggregating up to ₹2,941.19 Cr for the wholly-owned subsidiary — the same amount as the IREDA facility now signed — to facilitate its credit facilities for solar projects, and an infusion of additional promoter contribution of up to ₹200 Cr into the subsidiary, in one or more tranches, to meet promoter-contribution requirements under the project financing.
Read:The October 12 facility agreement was therefore pre-announced in substance twelve days earlier; what is new is the signed agreement with the lender. The −1.9% on September 30 cannot be attributed to this outcome alone — two GST show-cause-notice disclosures filed after close on September 29 would also have reacted in the same session.
Board meeting outcome, Sep 30, 2026The mechanics, as the filing states them: IREDA lends up to ₹2,941.19 crore to NOPL — exactly 70% of the ₹4,201.70 crore estimated project cost — with the balance of ₹1,260.51 crore proposed to be funded through promoter contribution and other sources under the financing plan. The agreement sets out conditions for drawdown, repayment, security creation, financial covenants and events of default. Vikran's own exposure is, for now, prospective: the guarantee is board-approved but unsigned, and the filing is explicit that the company's liabilities "shall arise upon execution of the relevant corporate guarantee, subject to its terms and conditions."
Corporate guarantee of up to ₹2,941.19 Cr board-approved Sep 30; to be executed separately — no direct liability on Vikran as of Oct 12.
Scale is the analytical point. The guarantee, once executed, would stand at about 2× Vikran's market capitalisation of ₹1,435.5 crore. The ₹3,517.98 crore EPC contract is roughly 2.8× the company's entire FY-2026 standalone revenue (the four quarters in the data sum to ₹1,249.31 crore). And the EPC contract equals about 84% of the project cost — meaning most of what the IREDA loan and promoter contributions fund flows to the parent as EPC revenue, billed to its own subsidiary. That structure is stated in the filings themselves: NOPL borrows, Vikran builds, and Vikran proposes to guarantee the borrowing. It concentrates both the opportunity and the risk of this project on one balance sheet.
The transmission business is still winning external orders
₹153.76 Cr POWERGRID order for a 400 kV substation package
Vikran received a Notification of Award from Power Grid Corporation of India for the 400 kV AIS Extension Substation Package SS-136T, extending the 400/220 kV Tumkur-II pooling substation — an order of ₹153.76 Cr in its core power-transmission EPC business. The press release was filed at 23:29 IST, after close.
Read:A reminder that outside the solar project, the company's third-party order flow continues. September 24 — the first session after the filing — was the heaviest volume day in the 60-session window (34.85 million shares). The same day's bulk-deal data shows Junomoneta Finsol bought 13.29 lakh shares at ₹61.22 and sold 13.15 lakh at ₹61.26 — a round trip, roughly net flat.
Press release, Sep 23, 2026The tape into this announcement has been weak. Over the 60 sessions in the price data (all split/bonus-adjusted), the stock has slid from ₹72.13 on July 17 to ₹55.66 on October 12 — a fall of 22.8% — and now sits 53.0% below its adjusted 52-week high of ₹118.4 (November 20, 2025) and only 8.9% above the 52-week low of ₹51.1 set on March 30. The September 24 order-day spike to ₹60.99 was fully given back within three weeks. Whether a signed financing package reads differently to the market than a board approval did will show from October 13.
What the quarterly numbers say about carrying this project
As stored in exchange-filed data; Q4 FY26 consolidated equals standalone. PBT is pre-tax profit.
Two things stand out. First, in Q1 FY27 the consolidated numbers sit well below the standalone ones — revenue of ₹141.59 crore versus ₹203.99 crore, net profit of ₹3.99 crore versus ₹17.51 crore. The data does not state why; one reading, and it is an inference, is that revenue the parent bills to its own subsidiaries — such as EPC work for NOPL — eliminates on consolidation, so the group's reported growth will lag the parent's as the solar project ramps. Second, consolidated interest cost of ₹14.95 crore was nearly three times consolidated pre-tax profit of ₹5.43 crore — and that is before any drawdown of a ₹2,941.19 crore project facility, which will sit inside this same consolidation once NOPL borrows.
The filings that would change the picture
Guarantee execution
The corporate guarantee in IREDA's favour is to be executed separately. That filing is the moment Vikran's contingent obligation — up to ₹2,941.19 Cr, about 2× market cap — becomes real and its terms knowable.
Drawdown and security
The facility sets conditions for drawdown, repayment, security creation and covenants. Subsequent disclosures on security creation or first drawdown would mark the project moving from financing to execution.
Promoter infusion tranches
Up to ₹200 Cr of promoter contribution into the subsidiary was approved on Sep 30, in one or more tranches. Tranche filings will show whether the equity side of the financing plan keeps pace with the debt.
Q2 FY27 results
The trading window closed October 1 until 48 hours after the September-quarter results; the board date is to be intimated. The standalone-versus-consolidated gap and interest cover are the lines to read.
October 13 session
The first session in which the market can trade on the facility agreement — the disclosure reached the exchange after close on October 12.
What the filing establishes is narrower than the headline number suggests: a lender has signed, the subsidiary can now borrow up to 70% of the project cost, and the company calls the financing for the 969 MWac project — and for its own ₹3,517.98 crore EPC contract — finalised. What it does not yet establish is Vikran's own liability, which arises only when the separately-executed corporate guarantee is signed.
For a ₹1,435.5 crore small-cap trading 8.9% above its 52-week low, the setup is a concentrated one: the project that could carry revenue well beyond FY-2026's ₹1,249.31 crore is the same project whose debt the parent proposes to guarantee at twice its market value. The data suggests the risk-reward now turns on execution filings rather than announcements — the guarantee document, drawdown conditions, and the September-quarter numbers are the next hard evidence either way.
