Trent's consolidated Q1 FY27 (quarter ended 30 June 2026) results — the primary basis — show revenue from operations of ₹5,754.71 Cr, up 17.8% YoY (+14.4% QoQ from ₹5,027.99 Cr), and net profit of ₹518.07 Cr, up 22.0% YoY (+25.4% QoQ from ₹413.10 Cr). Standalone told a similar story — revenue ₹5,666.30 Cr (+18.5% YoY) and PAT ₹531.77 Cr (+25.8% YoY) — with the ~3.9pp gap in PAT growth versus consolidated explained by a ₹9.74 Cr share-of-loss from associates/JVs at the group level this quarter, against a ₹9.21 Cr profit a year ago. Both statements carry unmodified limited-review opinions from Deloitte Haskins & Sells and no exceptional items this quarter, unlike FY26's full-year ₹25-26 Cr labour-code exceptional charge, so the comparison is clean.
Q1 FY-2027 vs prior quarters
Margins expanded on both counts: the company's own operating-margin formula (pre-exceptional EBIT + depreciation + finance cost − other income, over revenue) rose to 19.62% from 17.36% a year ago and 18.44% in Q4 FY26, while net profit margin improved to 9.00% of revenue from roughly 8.7% YoY. The bridge: occupancy cost, the largest controllable line after merchandise cost, fell to 9.15% of revenue from 10.01% a year ago even as employee costs grew a controlled 15.2% YoY (₹370.79 Cr) — both below the 17.8% topline growth. Working the other way, depreciation jumped 40% YoY to ₹410.16 Cr on new-store ROU-asset amortisation under Ind AS 116, and other expenses rose 26.1% YoY to ₹643.91 Cr, faster than revenue.
The stock went into the print at ₹3,194.5, up 9.3% over the past month of trading.
For context: this is the highest quarterly PAT in the last 6 quarters on our records; revenue is at a 6-quarter high.
The print lands against a backdrop Trent itself set on 6 July: standalone revenue growth of 19% missed Citigroup's 23% and Motilal Oswal's 22% estimates, sending the stock down 11-12% that day on Citi's concerns over 'weakening revenue per square foot, rising competition, cannibalization' as store additions slow — only a net 20 stores this quarter (1 Westside, 19 Zudio), taking the network to 1,312 stores (982 Zudio incl. 7 in the UAE, 301 Westside). Trent gives no formal quarterly revenue or margin guidance on record, so today's board-approved actuals mainly confirm the already-known revenue trajectory while filling in the profitability and margin detail the market didn't have. Corporate actions this quarter: a 1-for-2 bonus share issue (paid-up capital up to ₹53.32 Cr from ₹35.55 Cr, all EPS restated), redemption of ₹500 Cr NCDs on 29 May, and today's board also approved the FY27-28 statutory auditor rotation to B S R & Co. LLP.
W1
Revenue-per-sq-ft / same-store-sales trend into Q2 FY27 — Citi flagged 'weakening revenue per square foot' after the 19% Q1 print missed the 22-23% Street estimate
W2
Store-addition pace — only 20 net stores added in Q1 vs a faster historical clip; watch whether Zudio (982) and Westside (301) expansion re-accelerates
W3
Associate/JV drag — ₹9.74 Cr loss this quarter (incl. ₹16.97 Cr Trent Hypermarket JV loss) vs ₹9.21 Cr profit YoY; watch for normalisation
