Consolidated PAT nearly doubles YoY to ₹65.9 Cr, driven by treasury trading gains

Abans Financial Services (formerly Abans Holdings) reported consolidated revenue of ₹3,712.76 Cr for Q1 FY27 (quarter ended June 30, 2026), up 96% YoY from ₹1,893.81 Cr, with PAT of ₹65.85 Cr, up 101% YoY from ₹32.69 Cr. Basic EPS was ₹12.20 versus ₹6.46 a year ago. Sequentially, the company swung from a ₹3.69 Cr consolidated loss in Q4 FY26 to profit this quarter, though revenue fell 57% QoQ off Q4's outsized ₹8,708.28 Cr base. Standalone (holding-company-only) results mirrored the turnaround: PAT of ₹10.44 Cr versus a ₹1.43 Cr loss in Q1 FY26. Segment data shows the growth is concentrated in Principal investment & Treasury — effectively the group's proprietary trading/treasury book, whose revenue (₹3,666.94 Cr) tracks almost one-for-one with the ₹3,590.34 Cr purchase-of-stock-in-trade line, confirming it is largely gross flow-through rather than fee income. That segment's PBT nearly quadrupled YoY to ₹68.62 Cr from ₹17.10 Cr. By contrast, the Fee-based investment services segment — the core advisory/broking business — saw PBT fall 15% YoY to ₹19.42 Cr from ₹22.84 Cr. Consolidated NPM was roughly flat YoY at 1.77% (versus 1.72%), and PBT margin (PBT/revenue) eased to 2.33% from 2.71% even as PBT itself rose 110% YoY to ₹86.40 Cr, since total expenses grew nearly in step with revenue — consistent with a trading-flow business rather than margin-accretive core growth. The QoQ swing from loss to profit is explained mainly by the absence of a ₹32.97 Cr net fair-value trading loss that hit Q4 FY26 (per note 8 to the consolidated results); Q1 FY27 booked zero net fair-value loss. No consensus estimates for this print turned up in a web search, and neither our records nor the filing contain formal prior management guidance — the company gives no forward outlook on record for this quarter. The filing itself carries no separate management press release or chairman's commentary beyond the routine board-outcome letter, so there is no external framing to reconcile against the numbers. Employee costs across the group included a ₹5.17 Cr net ESOP reversal tied to senior-management resignations during the quarter, which mechanically eased the expense line — this ties to the Aug 6, 2026 disclosure that two directors resigned. Separately, the company disclosed on July 2-3, 2026 that overseas subsidiaries were hit by a probable ransomware attack; this filing quantifies no financial or operational impact from that incident. The headline growth is real but concentrated in a volatile proprietary trading book rather than the core fee-based franchise, which actually contracted YoY on a profit basis — the next quarter's read on whether Principal investment & Treasury profit holds up, or reverts as it did in Q4 FY26, is the key swing factor for the group's earnings trajectory.
