Bharti Airtel Fined ₹1.03 Lakhs by DoT for Subscriber Verification Lapses

Bharti Airtel Limited has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Uttar Pradesh (East) LSA, imposing a penalty of ₹1,03,000. The penalty is for alleged violations of subscriber verification norms, identified during a periodic Customer Application Form (CAF) Audit for July 2026. The DoT mandates adequate customer verification before subscriber enrollment. Bharti Airtel has decided not to contest the penalty and will pay the amount. The company stated that the maximum financial impact is limited to the penalty levied.
