Jayshree Chemicals faces legal challenge from Grasim Industries

Jayshree Chemicals Limited has disclosed an ongoing arbitration proceeding (Arbitration Petition No. 61 of 2024) initiated by Grasim Industries Limited. The case involves a challenge by Grasim Industries to an arbitral award dated April 12, 2024, concerning a business transfer agreement (BTA) for a caustic soda plant. The dispute stems from environmental remediation costs related to the plant, which Jayshree Chemicals operated. Grasim Industries, having acquired the business undertaking, was called upon by the Odisha State Pollution Control Board to undertake remediation and subsequently sought reimbursement from Jayshree Chemicals. The company is currently evaluating the financial impact of the court's order.
