Power Grid Acquires Kakinada I Transmission for ₹20.5 Cr

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has acquired Kakinada I Transmission Limited (KITL) for an aggregate value of approximately ₹20.50 Crore. The acquisition, completed on June 29, 2026, was made under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route. KITL is a Project SPV established to develop a transmission system for proposed Green Hydrogen/Green Ammonia projects in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The project includes a new 765/400kV GIS Sub-station, STATCOM, and 765kV transmission line works. This acquisition aligns with POWERGRID's core business of power transmission and is subject to adjustments based on KITL's audited accounts as of the acquisition date.
