Power Grid Acquires WR ER Part A Power Transmission for ₹18.62 Cr

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has acquired WR ER Part A Power Transmission Limited for an aggregate value of approximately ₹18.62 Crore. This acquisition, completed on June 30, 2026, was made under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route. The acquired entity, a Project SPV, will establish an Inter-State Transmission system for the "WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme Part-A" on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis. The project involves establishing new substations in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, extending existing ones in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, and constructing transmission lines across Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. WR ER Part A Power Transmission Limited was incorporated on November 6, 2025, and is yet to commence commercial operations, thus having no prior turnover. The acquisition is not a related party transaction and is considered an arm's length deal. Further regulatory approvals for the transmission license and charges are pending from the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission.
