Zydus Lifesciences Partners Apollo Hospitals for Cancer Test Access
Zydus Lifesciences Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Apollo Hospitals to expand access to the Shield™ Multi-Cancer Detection (MCD) test in India. This collaboration, facilitated by an exclusive agreement with Guardant Health, Inc., aims to make the methylation-based blood test available for detecting 10 common cancer types in individuals aged 45 and older. The Shield MCD test, which has received Breakthrough Device Designation from the U.S. FDA, screens for cancers including bladder, colorectal, breast, prostate, oesophageal, gastric, liver, lung, ovarian, and pancreas. This initiative is expected to improve early cancer detection rates in India, where cancer accounts for a significant portion of non-communicable disease deaths and screening rates are currently low.
