Ruby Mills Q1FY27: PAT flat, margins compress despite 31% revenue jump

Ruby Mills' consolidated PAT was effectively flat year-on-year at ₹11.70 Cr (-3.0%), and standalone PAT was ₹11.82 Cr (-1.9%), even as revenue from operations jumped 31.5% YoY to ₹91.48 Cr. PBT barely moved (standalone ₹16.32 Cr vs ₹16.31 Cr a year ago, +0.09%) — the strong headline revenue did not translate into profit growth. Both statements are unaudited but were reviewed by CNK & Associates LLP, which issued an unmodified opinion. The margin compression sits entirely on the cost line, not revenue. Net profit margin fell to roughly 11.2% of total income from about 15.3% a year ago. Finance costs surged roughly 10x YoY (standalone ₹9.88 Cr vs ₹0.94 Cr) and depreciation rose almost 5x (₹12.89 Cr vs ₹2.69 Cr), together absorbing nearly all of the gain from higher other income (+50.5% YoY to ₹13.57 Cr) and topline growth. Total expenses grew 42.5% YoY, outpacing the 31.5% rise in revenue. Critically, the headline revenue growth is not like-for-like. Segment data shows Real Estate and related revenue rising to ₹33.93 Cr from ₹10.17 Cr, but the company states outright that this comparison isn't valid because of the cancellation of a Development Agreement and settlement of accounts dated 11-December-2025 (our event records show the related Cancellation Agreement was formally registered on 17-July-2026). Stripping that out, the comparable core Textiles segment was roughly flat — revenue of ₹57.56 Cr against ₹59.40 Cr a year ago (-3.1%) — and the quarter included a wage-dispute work stoppage at the Dhamni weaving division from 30-June that wasn't resolved until 7-July-2026, a disruption that likely weighed on textile output. Management gives no formal guidance or outlook in this filing, and our records hold no prior concall or guidance to grade this print against — there is nothing on record to call a beat, meet, or miss. A web search found no analyst consensus or brokerage preview for this quarter; the only third-party read located was a MarketsMojo 'Hold' rating dated 10-July-2026, carrying no quantified estimate, so the street comparison is marked unknown. No management press release accompanied this filing to cross-check against. Going into Q2 FY27, the questions are whether the elevated finance-cost and depreciation run-rate persists — pointing to a structurally heavier real-estate asset base — and whether Textiles rebounds now that the Dhamni stoppage has been resolved.
