
Sterlite Technologies Transitions to 100% Green Power, Cuts Emissions
Sterlite Technologies Limited (STL) has announced a significant step towards its decarbonization and Net-Zero goals by transitioning its key manufacturing facilities in India to 100% 'Green Power' generated from wind and solar sources. This move, enabled by MSEDCL, is expected to reduce scope 2 emissions by approximately 65% in its Optical Fibre (OF) and Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) plants. Additionally, STL has integrated 100% Green Hydrogen into its glass manufacturing, decarbonizing a critical stage of optical fibre production. The company also reported an 80% reduction in the carbon footprint of its G.657.A2 optical fibre, from 4.7 Kg CO₂e/fkm to 0.9 Kg CO₂e/fkm. STL has also updated its corporate mobility policy to encourage electric and hybrid vehicles, aiming to lower its Scope 3 emissions.
