Shyam Metalics Subsidiary Starts Aluminium Foil Production
Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd's step-down subsidiary, SMEL Steel Structural Pvt. Ltd., has commenced commercial production of its Aluminium Foil facility in Sambalpur, Odisha, effective July 16, 2026. The facility has an installed capacity of 18,000 Tonnes Per Annum (TPA) and produces premium-grade aluminium foil. The company is investing approximately ₹800 Crores in aggregate for the Sambalpur Aluminium Downstream facilities, which also includes an upcoming Aluminium Flat Rolled Products (FRP) line. This expansion is expected to diversify products, reduce import dependence, enhance operating margins by 40-50%, and drive revenue growth by 2.0x to 2.5x. An upcoming FRP facility with a 60,000 TPA capacity is slated for launch by September 2026.
